Supreme Court asks CBI to expedite investigation in YS Jagan's DA case
Justice Sanjeev Khanna emphasised that the investigation should not be hindered by the influence of political leaders, including the Chief Minister.
HYDERABAD: The Supreme Court has raised concerns over the delay in the investigation of Disproportionate Assets case against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan and has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit an affidavit within four weeks explaining the reasons for the delay.
The court emphasised the need for a speedy investigation into the matter and has instructed that the investigation be completed as early as possible.
A bench comprising Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta issued the directive stating the importance of expediting the investigation process. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the CBI, informed the court that discharge petitions were contributing to the delays in the investigation. The bench expressed that the trial should not be postponed for political considerations.

The Supreme Court clarified that it will address matters related to the cancellation of bail and transfer petitions from Telangana to another State as part of the ongoing investigation and adjourned the next hearing to a week which is after August 5.
