Supreme Court dismisses plea against construction of YS Jagan’s office in Rushikonda

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud termed it as politically motivated and directed the petitioner to file a PIL in the AP High Court as the case was already pending there

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea seeking stoppage of construction works of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s camp office in Rushikonda.

Hearing a plea filed by Lingamaneni Sivarama Prasad on Friday, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud termed it as politically motivated. The Supreme Court directed the petitioner to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the AP High Court as the case was already pending there.

Sivarama Prasad filed the PIL against the Andhra Pradesh Government seeking cancellation of GO 2015 issued for the establishment of the camp office and offices of senior officials on Rushikonda. In his petition, Sivarama Prasad alleged that the State Government violated orders from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the AP High Court.

Sivarama Prasad appealed to the Supreme Court to immediately halt construction activities in Rushikonda until the cases were resolved in the NGT and AP High Court.
