AMARAVATI: TDP is a political party with a national outlook and has made history in national politics, said Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday.
Chandrababu Naidu declared that the TDP was the only regional entity that previously had the Opposition party status in Parliament and had been instrumental in bringing about a number of reforms in the country.
The TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu participated in the oath-taking ceremony of the party's Legal Cell members at the TDP central office here. Speaking on this occasion, Chandrababu Naidu noted that the Legal Cell was essential to the party's operation and added that lawyers were also important in the fight for independence.
The TDP chief noted that democracy rested solely on the four pillars of legislature, executive, media, and judiciary and believed that the judiciary had the greatest authority to rectify any of the other three branches. He insisted that the TDP was responsible for encouraging advocates to enter politics and noted that the party had fielded 47 advocates in addition to 125 graduates, 20 doctors, and 8 engineers.
Chandrababu Naidu expressed grave concern that corrupt police officers were currently receiving plum posts. He noted that during the current regime, tainted police officers were given key postings.
According to reports, the murder suspects in the case of Y S Vivekananda Reddy have already died, but Dastagiri, who was appointed as the case's approver, is now feeling threatened, Naidu said. He pointed out that this Government is to blame for filing lawsuits against the CBI, which is investigating the murder of Vivekananda.
