AMARAVATI: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders condemned the arrest of their party president and former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu. They called the act of the YSRCP Government as dastardly and cowardly.

Former Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswar Rao who was kept under house arrest said that the Chief Minister was deriving some kind of cruel pleasure in arresting Chandrababu Naidu. “With people deciding to defeat YS Jagan in the ensuing elections, he wants to put Chandrababu Naidu behind bars even for a few minutes,” he said.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) dashed a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought his intervention. “The circumstances leading to Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest have raised about the legality and fairness of the process. The charges are numerous and appear to be politically motivated,” the MP said.

Former MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar criticising the State Government's witch hunt, reminded it that the High Court had already praised the skill development project and said that 2,14,000 young men and women received training by the then State Government. “All these allegations are fabricated and false, ED also clarified that there was no misappropriation of funds,” he said.

Senior Leader Kanna Lakshminarayana addressed the media in Guntur and said that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took the decision fearing the growing following of Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh’s road shows highlighting the failures of the State Government.

Prominent movie maker and director K Raghavendra Rao in a statement criticised the AP Government in the manner a visionary like Chandrababu Naidu was arrested. “All the Ambedkar statues in the State would have felt the pain of democracy that died in the hands of YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s Government,” he said.

Syed Rafi, the TDP official spokesperson objected to how the TDP president was arrested in the wee hours of Saturday. “It is deplorable for the CID chief to say that they gave respect to a visionary like Naidu,” he said.

TDP politburo member TD Janardhan said that the prophecy of the father of the Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambekar became a reality. “Ambedkar said that if the corrupt rule the nation, then the righteous will languish in jail,” he observed. Former Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendraprasad said that the Chief Minister would have to stay put in London if the people of Andhra Pradesh decided to rebel against his unjust rule.
