DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today presented the full Union Budget for the financial year 2024-25, showering Andhra Pradesh with a host of development initiatives and announcing special provisions for the state in her budget speech.

The budget outlined financial aid for Andhra Pradesh, including Rs 15,000 crores for the development of its capital city, Amaravati, with assurances of additional funds based on future needs. Reiterating the commitment to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, Sitharaman confirmed full support for the swift completion of the Polavaram irrigation project, calling it a lifeline for the state's farmers and crucial for India's food security.

Upholding the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act's commitment to industrial development, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced special assistance for the state. This includes dedicated funds for developing the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and supporting nodes along the Visakhapatnam-Chennai corridor.

Sitharaman further revealed allocations for water, electricity, road, and highway infrastructure development in the industrial centres of Orvakallu and Kopparthi. However, the specific amount allocated for these initiatives was not disclosed.
