AMARAVATI: Angry voters who were promised a bribe but were not fulfilled by the political parties took to the streets in Andhra Pradesh. While few returned the goodies they were given others resorted to dharnas in front of the party offices.

In Sattenapally of Palnadu, voters from the 18th ward took to the streets in protest. They were upset because they did not receive the bribe money they were promised for voting for a certain party on May 13, 2024.

The voters had previously marked on a list that they had been given money. This led to a confrontation with the local leaders, questioning why the leaders were appearing before them without fulfilling their promise. The incident has caused a stir in the area, highlighting corruption and electoral malpractice issues in Palnadu.

In Pithapuram where Pawan Kalyan of the JSP and Vanga Geetha of the YSRCP were pitted against each other, few voters protested in front of the YSRCP office on Saturday night. They were angry because only a few were given Rs 3,000 per head as promised.

The local leaders said to have distributed the money to only a few and kept the remaining cash with them. The leaders entrusted with the distribution of bribes went incommunicado after the protest.

In a novel protest, voters in Kothapeta of East Godavari district started throwing back the sarees distributed by the local leaders, into their homes.
