YRSCP's Vikram Reddy wins Atmakur bypoll

NELLORE: The YSR Congress Party's Mekapati Vikram Reddy has won the byelections of Atmakur assembly constituency in the SPS Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh with a massive majority of 82,888 votes.

The Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate got fewer than one-sixth of the total votes, giving the YSRCP candidate a clear win.
The bypoll was necessitated due to the demise of Mekapati Goutham Reddy in February. He was the Industries and Information Technology Minister in YS Jaganmohan Reddy's first Cabinet and had won the 2019 elections with 22,276 votes.
The election margin:
YSRCP- Mekapati Vikram Reddy: 1,02,240 votes
BJP- Bharat Kumar: 19,352
BSP- Obulesu: 4,773
