YS Jagan grants Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia to Geetanjali's kin who allegedly killed self due to online harassment
The Chief Minister emphasised that due procedures of law would be followed to award the strictest punishment to those who indulged in activities that infringed upon the dignity and respect of women.
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the suicide of Geetanjali, a resident of Tenali who allegedly took her life after being harassed online by the TDP and the Jana Sena Party leaders. Gitanjali was recently allotted a house in Jagananna Colony post which her interview went viral.
YS Jagan conveyed his deepest condolences to the Geetanjali's family and directed officials to provide immediate support to the bereaved's kin. An ex-gratia amount of Rs 20 lakh was sanctioned to help them through this difficult time.

He directed officials to take strong action against the social media users who allegedly posted inappropriate comments on Geetanjali's interview on a YouTube channel.
Geetanjali's family members lodged a police complaint alleging that she took her own life after facing harassment and online abuse.
