YS Jagan opens Srinivasa Sethu elevated smart corridor in Tirupati, gives house sites to TTD staff

TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the Srinivasa Sethu elevated smart corridor built at a cost of Rs 650 crore in Padmavathipuram, Tirupati on Monday.

Srinivasa Sethu connects the Renigunta airport road, Chennai and Bengaluru highways to Kapilatheertham, which is just 250 metres from Alipiri at the foothills of Tirumala. The elevated smart corridor was jointly constructed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and Tirupati Smart City Corporation Limited (TSCCL). The TTD provided around 67 percent of the total cost of the Central Government project, while the TSCCL extended the remaining 33 percent.

Addressing a gathering, YS Jagan said that the previous TDP regime laid just the foundation stone for the project in 2018 for the namesake before the elections. However, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Government took up the project with the utmost priority and completed the works keeping in mind the rapid growth of the temple town as well as the growing footfalls of devotees to Tirumala, he said.

The Chief Minister said that providing house sites to around 6,700 TTD employees was one of the priorities of the State Government. "We have spent Rs 313 crore to provide as many as 3,515 house site pattas to the TTD employees and another Rs 280 crore will be spent on providing house site pattas to the remaining employees within 45 days," YS Jagan said.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the hostel buildings constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 37.80 crore at Sri Venkateswara (SV) Arts College. Later, he proceeded to Thataiahagunta Gangamma temple in Tirupati and offered special prayers to the Goddess.

After participating in the slew of development programmes in Tirupati, YS Jagan proceeded to Tirumala to offer silk robes to Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy on behalf of the State Government on the first day of the nine-day annual Brahmostavam festivities from Monday.
