AMARAVATI: Incumbent Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday submitted his resignation to Governor S Abdul Nazeer around 4 p.m.

Expressing shock over the YSRCP's defeat in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections, outgoing Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday stated that despite implementing numerous welfare schemes and striving for the development of the poor, he is unsure of what went wrong and believes only God knows the reason.

Addressing the media post-defeat, YSRCP president YS Jagan said, "I'm genuinely shocked by the 2024 Andhra Pradesh election results. I never anticipated such an outcome. We introduced numerous welfare schemes; about 53 lakh mothers benefited from the Amma Vodi scheme. We did all this for the welfare of children, yet I don't understand where the votes from these sisters and mothers went."

YS Jagan said they assisted crores of people in Andhra Pradesh, including auto drivers, small food vendors, and others through various schemes like Vahana Mitra and Netha Nestham, yet their votes are unaccounted for. He said the YSRCP government treated their manifesto as sacred, fulfilling 99 percent of their promises and transparently sharing it with citizens. "We promoted English skills in government schools and introduced a volunteer system for better governance," he added.

"We initiated unique reforms across various sectors, including farming and education, yet I don't understand where all the affection and support went. Only God knows what happened, but we accept the public mandate. We will continue to serve the public and advocate for the voiceless. This alliance includes influential entities like the BJP. I congratulate all the leaders, including Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan garu, on their victory. Being in opposition and fighting is not new to me. I spent most of my political career in opposition, except for the last five years. We will undoubtedly rise from the ashes and fight back. Best wishes to the new government," YS Jagan concluded.
