YS Jagan to unveil 125-ft Ambedkar statue in Vijayawada on January 24, 2024
The officials informed Chief Minister that the statue of Dr Ambedkar would be installed on an 81-feet pedestal taking the total length to 206 feet and the entire project would reflect the concept of social justice
AMARAVATI: The 125-feet tall Dr B R Ambedkar statue will be ready for inauguration on January 24, 2024 in Vijayawada, the officials told Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during a review meeting held at his camp office, Tadepalli, on Monday.
YS Jagan said, “The Ambedkar Smriti Vanam Project at Swaraj Maidan is of historical importance and reflects social justice, constitutional supremacy and democratic values. The project will play a key role in consolidating unity, brotherhood and social harmony among people.” He added that no work should be left unattended and asked officials to expedite the works on a war footing and ensure its inauguration on time.
The Chief Minister told the officials to make the Smriti Vanam premises verdant while providing all basic facilities and getting the convention center also ready for functioning, besides constant monitoring on the progress of the project. The officials informed him that the statue of Dr Ambedkar would be installed on an 81-feet pedestal taking the total length to 206 feet and the entire project would reflect the concept of social justice.
The officials also explained to the Chief Minister about the beautification works being undertaken along the flood protection wall constructed in the Krishnalanka area. Works related to the park and walking track were in full swing, the officials added. Ministers Kottu Satyanarayana, Audimulapu Suresh and Merugu Nagarjuna, Special Chief Secretary (MA&UD) Y Sri Lakshmi and other senior officials were also present.
