HYDERABAD: Dr Narreddy Sunitha, the daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy, and her husband Narreddy Rajasekhara Reddy turned up at the regional office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The couple are being questioned again by the probe agency sleuths to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder of the former minister.

According to reports, the CBI’s questioning of Dr Sunitha and her husband centered around the letter purportedly written by YS Vivekananda Reddy, minutes before his death. YSRCP MP from Kadapa YS Avinash Reddy, his father YS Bhaskar Reddy and a few other accused, some of whom had already been arrested in the case, have been accusing the CBI of not directing its probe towards the alleged concealment of the letter by Dr Sunitha and her husband.

In one of the latest revelations, Krishna Reddy, who was the personal assistant of YS Vivekananda Reddy till his last breath, claimed that he had hidden the letter and the slain leader’s mobile phone on the instructions of Dr Sunitha and Narreddy Rajasekhara Reddy on the fateful day of March 15, 2019. With the revelations receiving widespread attention, the CBI is understood to have decided to set the record straight. In what is being seen as an attempt to rid itself of the blame, the probe agency has summoned the couple again to record their statement afresh. The central agency is also believed to be questioning several other witnesses to find a breakthrough.

Incidentally, Dr Sunitha and her husband have already been questioned a few times as witnesses in the case. The last such instance came on April 25, 2023 when the CBI recorded their statement following a three-hour-long session of questioning.
