YS Viveka murder: CBI summons Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy for third time
The CBI has issued a notice, for the third time, to YSRCP MP from Kadapa YS Avinash Reddy in connection with the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case
HYDERABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued a notice, for the third time, to YSRCP MP from Kadapa YS Avinash Reddy in connection with the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case. He and his father YS Bhaskar Reddy have been summoned to appear before it at its Hyderabad office on March 6, 2023 for further questioning.
The Kadapa MP reportedly sought another date while expressing his inability to turn up for questioning on March 6. But, the CBI made it clear to the YSRCP leader that he should appear before it on Monday without fail.
A team of CBI officials visited the house of YS Bhaskar Reddy in Pulivendula on Saturday and served the summons. YS Avinash Reddy was reportedly not at home when the CBI team served the notices.
The CBI has already questioned YS Avinash Reddy, a cousin of YSRCP President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, in connection with the murder of his uncle and former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.
On February 24, 2023, a CBI team grilled him for about four-and-a-half hours at its office in Hyderabad. The Kadapa MP was earlier questioned on January 28. Interestingly, this time, the CBI has summoned both Avinash Reddy and Bhaskar Reddy for questioning, based on information it extracted from other key accused in the case.
Following his questioning on February 24, YS Avinash Reddy told the media that he had answered all the questions posed by the CBI and that he submitted a memorandum containing all the facts he knew about the case. He also expressed his displeasure over what he called ‘misinformation campaign’ by a section of the media, insinuating his complicity in the case.
