CBI summons Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy to appear, MP cries foul over targeting his dad

HYDERABAD: YSRCP MP from Kadapa YS Avinash Reddy on Sunday expressed concern over the CBI investigation into YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case even as he was summoned by the agency to appear before it on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 3 pm. The beleaguered MP expressed anguish on how the agency has been downplaying some important aspects and crucial elements shared with it in connection with the murder of his uncle.

Addressing media persons hours after the arrest of his father YS Bhaskar Reddy, he said, "We were shocked to learn about the arrest of my father Bhaskar Reddy. We will persevere in this fight, and the truth will prevail. The CBI downplayed some important and crucial elements. We have made our concerns known to the CBI Director, the new investigating officer, and the DIG. They have continued to operate in the same manner as the previous IO and have not made an effort to look into the important issues raised."

He further said: "After the death, even before our presence at the spot, the news about Vivekananda Reddy’s murder was informed to his son-in-law, Rajasekar Reddy, about an hour before I received the call. It was the son-in-law who called Vivekananda Reddy’s PA Krishna Reddy and instructed him to hide the letter and his father-in-law’s mobile phone," Avinash Reddy said.

"It is clear that it was a murder for gain. But, why was it kept under wraps, specifically to hide the letter? With such intentions, Siva Prakash Reddy then asked me to go to the residence, what was the need to involve me when I was busy campaigning in Jammalamadugu. We had left for campaigning in the morning. On our way, we received the call and immediately rushed in our vehicles to Vivekananda Reddy’s residence," he said.

"Upon reaching the house, PA Krishna Reddy took me to the spot and on seeing my uncle in a pool of blood, I was shocked. It was I who reached out to the police three times and informed them about the incident. The son-in-law who knew about his father-in-law's death did not call the cops. Even after informing the police, I’m seen as an accused. It was Vivekananda Reddy’s son-in-law Rajashekar Reddy who said that the letter purportedly written by Vivekananda be hidden," Avinash Reddy claimed.

Nothing of this critical information has been investigated. This is a person-targeted investigation. "We have been asking for an investigation that focuses on the facts," he said.

“In order to marry his second wife, Vivekananda Reddy changed his name to Shaik Mohammad in 2010. Shehensha is the couple's son. All of this was covered in the representation made to the CBI. The assets, stamp documents and notarized wills for the second wife have not been looked into,” the Kadapa MP said.

“Driver Dastagiri provided statements regarding the notarized wills and stamped papers. The CBI was unable to locate them. It was quite apparent in the statement that those materials had been carefully examined and removed, he said. He questioned the CBI as to why no cases of theft have been reported.

According to YS Avinash Reddy, Dastagiri, In his statement, said, "It was my idea to make Vivekananda Reddy write the letter in the name of Driver Prasad, so that the whole issue is diverted to Prasad.” “Why aren't the provisions of the IPC being applied to the offender?" questioned the beleaguered MP.

Someone committed the crime but falsely accused someone else. "Why are they only being partially investigated, why aren't they being apprehended or interrogated? Why is accused number four (A4) given such relief?" Avinash Reddy asked.

"When one of the four key suspects turns approver and the daughter and son don't object, it only serves as more proof that they are all cooperating. This is a carefully thought-out plan to put the blame on me. An anticipatory bail was obtained in the name of A4 Dastagiri with an intention of releasing an approver in order to avoid punishment, and the CBI responded in affirmative at the Kadapa court. He receives bail. Why didn't Sunneetha file an implead petition when this happened," he asked.

“It demonstrates unequivocally that Suneetha and CBI were working together to operate it in a specific direction. We trust the judiciary. Truth shall prevail and we will continue to demonstrate the truth," YS Avinash Reddy vowed.
