YS Viveka murder: Supreme Court objects to continuing Ram Singh in CBI investigation
Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the continuance of CBI's current investigation officer Ram Singh in the inquiry of YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case
NEW DELHI: In a significant development, the Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the continuance of CBI's current investigation officer Ram Singh in the inquiry of YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case although the investigation agency has been directed to replace the investigative officer.
Responding to the report submitted by the CBI on the replacement of the CBI officer as ordered by the apex court in the petition filed by Tulasamma, wife of D Sivasankara Reddy, an accused in the case, a few days back, Justice MR Shah said that there was no point in continuing Ram Singh in the investigation team when there was no progress in the case, despite taking long-enough time.
Meanwhile, Tulasamma, who had earlier filed the petition pleading to change the CBI investigation officer, has now sought the bail for her husband saying that the investigation was getting inordinately delayed. The Supreme Court, which heard Tulasamma's arguments, said that the court would consider the matter and will issue an order at 2 pm.
The counsel for Tulasamma argued that his client be granted bail citing that the probe on YS Vivekananda Reddy's murder would take at least three months with the replacement of a new investigation officer.
