30 passengers cheat death after bus gets stranded in flood waters in AP

HINDUPUR: At least 30 passengers of a private bus had a providential escape after the vehicle got stuck in flood waters at Kothanur of Hindupur mandal in Sri Satya Sai district in the early hours of Thursday.

The bus was carrying workers of a private company from Hindupur to Gorantla. While crossing the stream that is in spate, the bus got stranded midway and even tilted to its side. However, an alert driver stopped the bus immediately even as the inmates disembarked and ran to safety. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief after realising that a major tragedy could be averted.

The locals brought the bus out of the flood waters later with the help of a crane.
