AP HC annuls GO scrapping 'Best Available School Scheme'
The v on Monday struck down a State Government order scrapping the 'Best Available School Scheme
Andhra Pradesh High Court
AMARAVATI: In yet another setback to the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday struck down a State Government order (GO. no 19) scrapping the 'Best Available School Scheme'. The State Government issued the GO in 2019 annulling the scheme.
Before its annulment in 2019, the social welfare department used to reimburse education expenses of students belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) who were studying as part of the 'Best Available School Scheme'. However, payments have been stalled for sometime as the authorities of the social welfare department have apparently put a freeze on reimbursement.
Subsequently, the State Government came up with GO No.19, scrapping the 'Best Available School Scheme'. Taking exception to the decision, the Mala Mahanadu approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging the GO. After hearing arguments over its petition, the high court on Monday annulled the GO.
