App-based loan harassment: One more dies by suicide in AP
It seems, there is no end to the suicides in the two Telugu states due to the harassment by agents of app-based online loan providers
VIJAYAWADA: It seems, there is no end to the suicides in the two Telugu states due to the harassment by agents of app-based online loan providers. Even as the recent suicide of a couple in Rajamahendravaram is fresh in memory, the news of one more person ending his life for same reasons in NTR district sent shock waves.
Rajesh, an MBA graduate hailing from NTR district, died by suicide on Thursday. He resorted to the extreme step, unable to bear the harassment by loan app agents, leaving his parents devastated. His grief-stricken parents blamed harassment by the app-based loan providers and sought justice.
Rajesh, who hailed from Velagaleru of G Kondur Mandal, had completed his MBA and was living in Hyderabad with his wife and three-year-old daughter. As he was working in a private company and could not cope with financial difficulties, he took a loan from an app-based loan provider, called XP Cash. Despite paying back the debt, the agents of the loan provider intensified harassment, asking him to pay more money by blackmailing him with nude photos.
Distressed by the harassment, Rajesh died by suicide after his nude photos were sent to his family members. He left a suicide note requesting Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take strict action against the administrators of the online loan apps.
