APSRTC staff to receive salaries with a new pay-scale effective Oct 1

AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) employees are all set to receive their salaries according to the government pay-scale. Despite financial constraints in the state, the Andhra Pradesh Government has gone ahead fulfilling the promise to pay the salaries to the employees bearing an additional burden of Rs. 360 crores.

It may be recalled that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after coming to the power has merged the APSRTC with the government, seeing the plight of the corporation which is in debts paying Rs. 350 crores on interest every year.

The merger of the corporation took place on January 1, 2020, and the government was paying the salaries of 52,000 employees from the state exchequer spending Rs. 300 crores per month equal to Ra. 3,600 crore per year.

With the implementation of the new pay-scale, the government will have to spend an additional Rs. 360 crore. Meanwhile, it is learned that the RTC employees are reaping various benefits from the merger of the corporation with the government.
