CJI Justice NV Ramana opens district courts complex in Vijayawada
Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana inaugurated the newly-constructed district courts complex here on Saturday
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana inaugurated the newly-constructed district courts complex here on Saturday. Among others, the complex houses the city civil court.
Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, judges of the high court and several other dignitaries attended the event. Inaugurating the courts complex here was a special moment personally for the CJI who had a long association with it in his career.
In fact, he began his career as an advocate at the city civil court here before scaling greater heights to become the Chief Justice of India. Justice NV Ramana and YS Jagan also planted saplings on the premises of the building to mark the occasion.
Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister called on the CJI as part of a courtesy meet.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the courts complex, Justice NV Ramana touched upon a host of aspects. He said that the construction of the new courts building was delayed earlier due to financial constraints.
He also paid a compliment to YS Jagan, saying that the building work could be completed with the cooperation of the Chief Minister. He also said that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and several other states extended their support to him on the issue of recruiting judges to fill up the pending vacancies across the country.
On a lighter note, he commented that all the speakers at the event spoke in English while only he and Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy addressed the gathering in Telugu.
