AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the Municipal Administration Department on Friday to complete road restoration across the state by March 31, 2023.
During a review meeting of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development held here on Friday, the Chief Minister directed officials to thoroughly inspect the roads in all towns and cities in the aftermath of the state's heavy rains.
He directed the department to launch a special drive to repair and rebuild the damaged roads. The meeting also covered topics such as town and city beautification, waste management, greenery, YSR urban clinics, drainage water treatment, and Jagananna Smart Townships.
He directed officials to ensure high standards in the maintenance of garbage dump yards and to ensure that the general public is not affected in the process.
He observed that there should be a constant vigil on drainage water treatment and waste process management in every municipality and corporation, and that immediate steps should be taken to provide all basic facilities in order to achieve goals of bringing complete cleanliness to the state.
He also directed the department to take steps to prevent drainage water from flowing along the Krishna River's retaining wall and to fully implement the ban on the use of plastic covers by meeting with business owners and requesting that they use alternative materials.
The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare layouts for the construction of Jagananna Smart Townships in all constituencies. He proposed that before establishing drainage treatment plants, all basic facilities such as water, drainage, and electricity be provided in Jagananna colonies. He also requested that officials beautify all roads leading to Ambedkar Park in Vijayawada.
The review meeting was attended by Audimulapu Suresh, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Chief Secretary Sameer Sarma, Municipal Administration Commissioner Praveen Kumar, Municipal Administration Special CS Y. Srilakshmi, APUFIDC MD Lakshmi Shah, Swatchh Andhra Corporation MD Dr. P. Sampath Kumar, and other officials.
