Godavari reaches 31 ft at Bhadrachalam; gates lifted at Dowlaiswaram

HYDERABAD: The Irrigation department officers are likely to announce a first warning to locals if the water level reaches above 40 ft in Godavari at Bhadrachalam. A second warning will be given after water level reaches 47 ft and a final warning at 57 ft. The water level in the river at Bhadrachalam has been marked at 31 ft on Sunday.

Telangana recorded an average rainfall f 40.1 mm on saturday.
The water level in the river was increasing rapidly in view of heavy rains in the State. Water level in tributaries like Taliperu and Kinnerasani was also increasing.
Heavy rains lashed North Telangana on Saturday and continued on Sunday. Hyderabad Meteorological Department (HMD) Director K. Nagaratna said that the state would receive heavy to very heavy rains for two more days. The HMD also said that right districts of Telangana would be on red alert due to heavy rains.
Nagaratna said that red alert was announced for Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Peddapalli, Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Mancherial districts. There were chances of heavy to very heavy rains in these districts. The HMD issued orange alert to the rest of the districts.
