Jagan lauds AP sportsmen
Jagan lauded Srikanth for playing a key role in the Indian badminton team's win in the prestigious Thomas Cup in Bangkok.
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy felicitated Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth and Indian Deaflympics tennis player Sheikh Jafreen at the Secretariat in Tadepalli on Friday.
Jagan lauded Srikanth for playing a key role in the Indian badminton team's win in the prestigious Thomas Cup in Bangkok. He also praised the efforts of tennis player Sheikh Jafreen, who hails from Kurnool district, for winning the bronze medal at the 'Deaflympics' which were held in Brazil last month. He thanked them for making Andhra Pradesh proud on the global map.
The Chief Minister asked officials to offer a government job to Sheik Jafreen based on her qualifications. He wanted the officials to provide Srikanth and Jafreen with all their needs. He said that incentives would be given to sportsmen from the State for representing it on a global platform. The AP Government would encourage sportspersons and support them in every possible manner.
On this occasion, AP Badminton Association President Mukkala Dwarkanath presented a badminton kit to the Chief Minister on behalf of the Association.
Present on the occasion were Tourism and Sports Minister RK Roja, SAAP Chairman Byreddy Siddharth Reddy, Srikanth's parents Radhamukunda and KVS Krishna, Sheikh Zafreen's father Sheikh Zakir Ahmed, and SAAP Sports officer June Galliot.
