Jagan sanctions Rs 1 cr for treatment of a child, Rs.10,000 pension

AMALAPURAM: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the treatment of a girl child by name Honey and also a pension of Rs 10,000 per month. As part of the assistance, District Collector Himanshu Shukla handed them over 10 very costly injunctions to her parents. The government would also take the responsibility of the child's education.

Honey was born with Gaucher disease. Her parents Koppadi Rambabu and Nagalakshmi of Allavaram mandal in Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema district. This disease affects spleen and liver of a human being.

When Jagan visited flood-affected areas in Gantipeddapudi village recently, the parents of honey displayed a placard urging him to save their child. While on his return, the Chief Minister saw them and stopped the convoy and discussed with them their need.

He directed the security staff to get the couple to the helipad for further discussions. He talked to them in detail at the helipad and understood their grievance. He enquired with them about the disease and how much would it cost. The Chief Minister asked the Collector to send proposals on the course of treatment for government's assistance and that they need not hesitate about expenses.

On receipt of the proposals, the government sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the treatment of the child. The injections were handed over to the parents at regional hospital on Sunday. The state government sanctioned 52 injections to her and first consignment of 13 were handed over today. Each injection costs Rs 1.25 lakh and one shot every 15 days has to be administered on the child.

The Collector there were 14 children suffering from this disease in the State. The parents expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for going out of the day to help them and save the child.
