AMARAVATI: The Maoists have given a call for the people of the Andhra-Odisha Border areas to observe the 'martyrs week' from July 28 to August 3. The AOB special Zonal committee secretary Ganesh released a press note asking the people to celebrate Charu Mazumdar's 50th birth anniversary and pay rich tributes to all the 'martyrs' who sacrificed their lives in the people's movement. The Maoist top leader said that 124 Maoists were killed in AOB in the last one year, from July 2021 till date. He said that 12 comrades were martyred during this period across the AOB zone resisting the counter-revolutionary 'Samadhan-Prahar'.
Ganesh said that Saturday marked 50 years since the death of their party founder and great teacher Comrade Charu Mazumdar and 40 years since Comrade Kanhaya Chatterjee's demise. He emphasised the importance of celebrating martyrs' week. "In the ideological light of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, based on the specific inherent characteristics of India, the right revolutionary path was invented to succeed the new democratic revolution through long-term people's war. Through revolutionary practice, he made a decisive break with revisionism and set the people on the path of revolution against the parliamentary system," Ganesh asserted.
The Maoist leader alleged that the Narendra Modi government had been aggressively implementing various anti-people policies such as abolishing the autonomy of the people of Kashmir by abrogating Article 370, bringing in demonetisation, diluting labour laws, pushing anti-farmer laws and making the lives of unemployed youth miserable in the name of Agneepath schemes.
The AOB Special Zone Secretary also found fault with YS Jagan and Naveen Patnaik, who are in power in the Andhra-Odisha states for showing great enthusiasm in protecting the interests of the capitalists. He said that instead of revolting against the anti-people policies of the Modi government, they were inviting and implementing the Centre's agenda.
He said that the AOB would continue to fight for the people's rights and support their movements.
