AMARAVATI: A reunion meeting of former students held at SK University saw the coming-together of several prominent personalities of Ananthapur district on Monday. More than a meet, it was a trip down the memory lane for these politicos and high-ranking officials, of present and past, as they were seen wishing each other affectionately.
Among one of those glimpses at the alumni meeting, ex-APCC President Raghuveera Reddy, YSRCP ex-MLA Vishweshwar Reddy and CPI State Secretary Ramakrishna showed how friendships of student days always remain unaffected by divisive political lines. The three not only bonded well among themselves but even greeted another great friend Dr Palle Raghunath Reddy, ex-minister, with all the warmth and love. Visibly delighted at seeing Raghunath Reddy, they were seen enquiring about his health, family and details.
Be it a reunion meet or any other event, when politicians meet, it's hard to keep politics away from their chit-chat. Some of them may not be very active in politics now but the intensity and desire for it was clearly not lost. One could see them deeply engrossed in their conversation as soon as the topic shifted to the current political scenario in the state.
Later, speaking at the felicitation ceremony organized in the university auditorium, Palle Raghunath Reddy said that anyone could scale great heights in life if he or she studied hard. And beaming with pride, he proclaimed that he himself was an example of that. He recalled how he was bestowed with positions like an MLA, government whip, MLC and a minister, He recalled that after entering the political arena, he got the positions of MLA, Government Chief Whip, MLC and a minister and performed well, after beginning his journey on a humble note from his village.
Raghunath Reddy said even though he is currently in the opposition, he is happy working 18 hours a day and participating in social service activities. "There is no happiness, no matter how many crores you earn, you will get satisfaction only when you serve the poor and do justice."
Palle Raghunath Reddy said that many of his students whom he taught in those days were excelling in high positions in the country and abroad.
M Raghuveera Reddy, former Government Whip Yamini Bala, former MLAs Visveshwar Reddy, Ramakrishna, former Vice-Chancellors Konakaluri Inak, Kada Ramakrishna Reddy, Srinivas Reddy, Krishna Naik, IAS attended the event. Senior officers of the state government were present as chief guests.
