TDP to back Draupadi Murmu in the Presidential elections
The Telugu Desam Party has announced its support for the NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu.
AMARAVATI: The Telugu Desam Party has announced its support for the NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. The decision was taken in the party strategy committee meeting on Monday.
In the meeting, they recalled their support to K.R. Narayanan and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for presidential candidates, Balayogi as Speaker of Lok Sabha and Pratibha Bharti as Speaker of Legislative Assembly.
They also discussed that by making Y Erran Naidu a Union Minister, social justice was done to the TDP. Party National President N Chandrababu Naidu stated that the TDP had not contested from Nandyal elections against PV Narasimha Rao as he was the then Prime Minister candidate of Congress.
It was known that YSRCP, which was in power in Andhra Pradesh also announced its support to Draupadi Murmu. MP Vijaysai Reddy from YSRCP also attended her nomination event.
While Draupadi Murmu was standing as the NDA candidate, former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha would be contesting as the joint presidential candidate of the opposition.
