Video scandal: TDP MPs petition LS Speaker against YSRCP's Gorantla Madhav
The video involving YSRCP MP Gorantla Madhav has sparked intense political debate, with the Telugu Desam Party
NEW DELHI: The video involving YSRCP MP Gorantla Madhav has sparked intense political debate, with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) lodging a complaint with the Lok Sabha Speaker, demanding strict action against him.
The TDP MPs, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Kanakamedala Ravinda Kumar, speaking to the media here, alleged that the YSRCP was only attempting to divert the issue involving its party MP. The ruling party in Andhra Pradesh has become an expert in diversion politics, they said sarcastically.
A purported private video call between an unidentified woman and the Hindupur MP went viral on social media last week. Several political organisations demanded the MP's resignation accusing him of 'lecherous behaviour'. They also insisted that the YSRCP expel him from the party.
The alleged scandalous video kicked up a huge political storm in Andhra Pradesh with the opposition parties quickly seizing an opportunity from it to corner the ruling YSRCP. The YSRCP on its part, maintained that strictest action would be taken against Madhav if he was found guilty.
