VISAKHAPATNAM: YSRCP Parliamentary Party leader V Vijayasai Reddy on Wednesday said that a railway zone would be established in Visakhapatnam and that he would resign from his position as Member of Parliament if it was not fulfilled.
He said that the issue of railway zone was not discussed in the meeting convened by the Union Home Ministry in New Delhi on Tuesday for resolving the pending proposals incorporated in the Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation Act 2014.
The MP denied news reports claiming that Railway Board Chairman Tripathi described the idea of Visakhapatnam railway zone as 'economically not profitable' and ruled out the scope for the proposal.
Vijayasai said that some media organisations were spreading false news against the YSRCP government and made it clear that the railway zone would be established in Visakhapatnam at any cost.
Vijayasai Reddy also challenged the media groups, which claimed that the railway zone would not be created, to shut their businesses if it was established.
