Adipurush controversy: Nepal's Kathmandu and Pokhara ban Indian films
Now, Nepal cities Kathmandu and Pokhara decided to ban the screening of all Indian films following a dialogue row in Adipurush
HYDERABAD: There is no end to the controversies created by Adipurush. Since the day of its release, the film has been making it to the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Now, Nepal cities Kathmandu and Pokhara decided to ban the screening of all Indian films following a dialogue row in Adipurush.
A dialogue in Adipurush mentions Sita as the daughter of India. The Mayor of Kathmandu, Balendra Shah, condemned this dialogue and said that it is misleading as Sita is believed to be the daughter of King Janak of Janakpur (a city in Nepal). Shah gave an ultimatum saying that no Indian film would be screened in Kathmandu until the objectionable dialogue was removed from Adipurush.
After Kathmandu, the Pokhara Metropolitan City has also enforced a ban on Indian films following the Adipurush dialogue controversy. An announcement regarding the same was made on Sunday. Pokhara Mayor directed all theatres to stop screening Indian films from Monday.
Meanwhile, the film's production house T Series stated that the dialogue was "never intentional or deliberate to cause any disharmony for anyone." Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush features Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.
