HYDERABAD: Ajith is a star hero in Tamil Nadu. His market share is almost equal to Vijay's market share in the Tamil circuit. While Vijay also enjoys a good market in Telugu, that is not the same case with Ajith. Most of Ajith's films have delayed release in Telugu and they also don't perform well here.
Finally, Ajith got his biggest-ever release with Thunivu in Telugu states. Thunivu was released yesterday in Telugu as Thegimpu. Directed by H. Vinoth, this movie had a simultaneous release in Telugu and Tamil yesterday.
Initially, Vijay's Varisu/Vaarasudu was slated for a simultaneous Tamil and Telugu release on January 11. But the release of the Telugu version is now postponed to January 14. This made Thegimpu get more theatres in Telugu states for a day.
However, the film failed to manage to get a good talk and openings. The poor execution of the plot and boring narration disappointed the audiences. Yet again, Ajith failed to impress the viewers in Telugu and he also failed to take advantage of Vijay's absence in the Telugu states.
