HYDERABAD: Akhanda is the biggest hit in Nandamuri Balakrishna's career. Released amid the pandemic times when theatres are struggling to pull audiences to the theatres, this film came in as a saviour and became a sensational success at the box office.
The successful combination of Balayya and director Boyapati Srinu scored a hat-trick hit with this movie. In its full run, Akhanda collected a gross of more than Rs. 100 crores and became one of the most profitable ventures in Tollywood in 2021.
During the climax of Akhanda, the makers give a hint about the sequel. In a recent interview, Balakrishna was asked about the possibilities of this sequel. Speaking about the same, Balayya said, "We will definitely do it. We have locked the idea but didn't decide when to start it."
On the whole, Balayya confirmed that there will be Akhanda 2. It may hit the floors once Boyapati and Balayya get done with their current commitments. As of now, Balayya is working for Veera Simha Reddy. It is gearing up for a Sankranthi 2023 release. He also has a film with Anil Ravipudi in the lineup.
