Bollywood obsessed with the trend of biopics
The successes of films like Paan Singh Tomar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Mary Kom led the filmmakers to come up with many such biopics.

If a formula works in filmmaking, many other filmmakers tend to use the same formula to get success. Especially the trend is quite common in the Indian film industry. One such formula is the making of biopics. The trend of biopics witnessed a rise in Indian cinema about ten years ago.
The successes of films like Paan Singh Tomar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Mary Kom led the filmmakers to come up with many such biopics. In the last few years, we have seen biopics of various sports personalities, celebrities, political leaders, and unsung heroes.
Now, there are many biographical dramas that are in production as well. Former Indian cricketer Mithali Raj's biopic Shabaash Mithu is hearing up for the release next month. There is a biopic coming up on the life of Jhulan Goswami as well. The script works of Sourav Ganguly's biopic are currently going on.
Not only these, but there are a lot of biopics and biographical web series that are under production in Bollywood right now. Some of them are the biopic of Sher Singh Rana (who murdered Phoolan Devi), comedian Kapil Sharma, chef Tarla Dalal, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Subrata Roy, Saroj Khan, Sithara Devi, Adesh Srivastava, Srikanth Bolla, Rakesh Maria, and VG Sidhartha. It has to be seen how many of these films manage to do well at the box office.
