Box Office: Sir crosses the break-even mark in all areas

HYDERABAD: Dhanush made his Telugu debut with the recent release Sir. It is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual directed by Venky Atluri. Sir was titled as Vaathi in Tamil. Both versions were released on February 17, during the Maha Shiva Ratri festive weekend. It has surpassed all expectations and is performing extremely well at the box office.
Sir took a good start in the Telugu states by collecting a share of Rs. 2.25 crores on the first day (including paid premieres). The collections increased on the second day as the film earned a gross of Rs. 6 crores and a share of around Rs. 3.3 crores from AP and Telangana.
Sir continued its rampage at the box office on Sunday as well. On the whole, it collected a gross of Rs. 15.7 crores and a share of Rs. 8.6 crores in the first weekend. It is reported that the breakeven has been done in all the areas within the first three days.
From now on, the film will be earning profits across all areas. As there are no big releases for the next couple of weeks, Sir can get a blockbuster tag for sure. With his first straight Telugu flick, Dhanush managed to score a blockbuster. Sir features Samyuktha Menon as the female lead. GV Prakash Kumar composed the music for it.
