Can Vijay and Puri Jagannath save Bollywood

Currently, Bollywood is in one of its worst phases ever. Post the pandemic, none of its movies is making huge money at the box office. Even big-star films are failing miserably in theatres. The Hindi film industry pinned a lot of hopes on this week's releases Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan.
However, both the films are receiving disappointing responses and have been declared flops at the box office. Now, the eyes have been shifted to the next big release, Liger.
Directed by Puri Jagannath, Liger features Vijay Deverakonda as the lead hero. It is a pan-India film. Though it is made by Telugu people, the story is set in Mumbai and it has a lot of Bollywood flavour.
Moreover, the team has been promoting Liger extensively in North India. Liger managed to build good hype in the Hindi-speaking circuit. Also, Vijay Deverakonda enjoys a good fan following among North Indians. Thus, trade pundits are expecting Liger to get good openings in Bollywood.
If it manages to get a hit talk, then Liger might become the success Bollywood is looking for. We have to see if Puri and Vijay can end Bollywood's hit drought. Liger is slated for a worldwide release on August 25.
