CBFC suggests major changes to 'Pathaan' amid the ‘Besharam Rang’ song row
Central Board of Film Certification has asked the makers of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathaan’ to go for specific changes in the film
HYDERABAD: The Central Board of Film Certification has asked the makers of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathaan’ to go for specific changes in the film and submit and revised version to them. Pathaan is SRK’s comeback film after a long gap of 4 years. His previous film ‘Zero’ which was released in 2018 was a disaster.
After its failure, SRK took a gap of 4 years to reinvent itself and is finally coming back to the screens with Pathaan under YashRaj’s banner. But, ever since the release of its first song ‘Besharam Rang’, the film has been surrounded by controversies. Deepika was seen in a “Saffron bikini” which led to this issue. Hindutva groups staged protests and even threatened to kill SRK and Deepika if they went ahead with the release of the film.
Amid this row, the CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said, “CBFC is always committed to finding the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believe that we can always find a solution through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders.”
Pathaan is set to release on the 25th of January 2023. Even though the expectations are high, the controversies will definitely affect the collections.
