HYDERABAD: The Kannada film 'Kantara' has taken up the country by storm. The film has not only scored huge box office numbers along with widespread critical acclaim, but it has also now become political, too, of the allegations of it being a pedestal for religious propaganda.

Post the nationwide release of the film, many came in & expressed that the Hindu religion has whitewashed the film on the claim of it being folklore. The term folklore usually represents the natives, but the allegation was that the film was mainly Hindutva propaganda. Even the filmmaker Rishab Shetty was open about the film being a Hindu Dharmic film, which has opened quite controversies on the political front. In light of these events, Rangarajan, the main priest at Chilkur Balaji Temple, came in support of 'Kantara'.
