Dhanush throws a challenge to Mani Ratnam
Veteran director Mani Ratnam is coming up with his new film Ponniyin Selvan
Veteran director Mani Ratnam is coming up with his new film Ponniyin Selvan. The first part of this movie will hit the screens on September 30. It will have a pan-India release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Generally, these big-budget films prefer solo releases in order to get good openings. But it looks like PS 1 will face tough competition from multiple movies.
In Hindi, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan's Vikram Vedha is getting released on the same day. Due to the presence of star heroes, it will definitely get better openings than Ponniyin Selvan.
Leave Hindi, PS-1 is now facing a challenge in its original language, Tamil. Dhanush is coming up with his new film Naane Varuven on the same day. Selva Raghavan is directing it.
The combination of Dhanush and Selva Raghavan has a broad fan base in Tamil Nadu. Moreover, Dhanush is high on the success of Thiruchitrambalam. So, Naane Varuven will get massive openings in Tamil Nadu for sure.
Thus, PS-1 will face tough competition from Dhanush. Meanwhile, people are wondering why there is no unity in the Tamil film industry. When a big budget film releases in Telugu, no other film releases on that day in order to help that movie in getting good openings. It looks like the Tamil film industry lacks that unity among its people.
