HYDERABAD: Ace producer Dil Raju is making a grand entry into Tamil cinema with Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film Varisu. This Vamshi Paidipally directorial is set for a grand release on January 12. Touted to be a family entertainer, this movie will have a simultaneous release in Telugu as Vaarasudu.
In Telugu, Vaarasudu will be competing against Megastar Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy. A few weeks ago, Dil Raju faced criticism from the producers' council for allocating more theatres for his dubbed film. They demanded that distributors should give preference to straight Telugu films during festive seasons.
Meanwhile, the makers of Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy intensified promotions over the last few days. However, there is no noise about Vaarasudu in Telugu media. The team is yet to host a pre-release event in Telugu. Vijay didn't speak to the Telugu media yet.
Recently, the Tamil audio launch was held but no video from the event was released till now. According to the sources, Dil Raju wants to concentrate on Tamil promotions more than marketing in the Telugu states. We have to see how the lack of promotions will help his movie do well in the Telugu states.
