HYDERABAD: Prabhas' movies consistently make waves in the theatrical business, regardless of their box office outcomes. The anticipation surrounding his latest venture, Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, is no exception, with projections estimating record-breaking figures.

For the Telugu states alone, distributors are expected to invest between 160 to 180 crores in advance to secure rights for the film's screening. This marks a substantial figure, particularly considering recent trends where only RRR has achieved comparable collections. Even Prabhas' previous hit, Salaar, amassed 148 crores in theatrical business.

The theatrical business bidding for "Salaar" saw bids of Rs 110 crores from Andhra Pradesh and Rs 65-70 crores from Telangana. To ensure profitability, "Kalki" would ideally need to generate a share of 200 crores, implying a need for increased ticket rates, contingent upon the outcome of the elections.

Should the Andhra Pradesh government, whether under Jagan's leadership or in alliance with the Telugu Desam party, opt to hike ticket prices, profitability for 'Kalki' becomes more achievable.

Considering these factors, 'Kalki' is anticipated to hit screens not by the end of June, but likely in July, allowing for the necessary governmental decisions to be made to maximize its potential at the box office.
