HYDERABAD: The past weekend witnessed a remarkable surge in moviegoers flocking to multiplexes and cinema halls as four highly anticipated films, 'Gadar 2', 'Jailer,' 'OMG 2', and 'Bhola Shankar,' collectively drew a record-breaking audience of over 2.10 crore individuals across the country. This has been the biggest record at the ticket windows in the Indian Cinema.

According to statements from the Producers Guild of India (PGI) and the Multiplex Association of India (MAI), these four movies collectively achieved a gross box office collection exceeding Rs 390 crore.

In a release on Monday, it was revealed that over two crore people had frequented various cinema halls over a single weekend for the first time in a decade. Notably, it marked the most bustling weekend since the reopening of movie theaters following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kamal Gianchandani, President of MAI, expressed, "It was a historic weekend; it proves once again that India loves going to the movies to see great films."

Shibasish Sarkar, President of PGI, echoed this sentiment, stating, "The turnout at theatres has infused a new energy in our industry; audiences are responding in numbers we have not seen for a very long time. Even the early morning shows are getting sold out. This weekend has been a wonderful experience for people who love mainstream Indian films."

The achievement was widely celebrated within the film industry.
