Hyderabad: Popular director and producer Karan Johar quit Twitter recently due to the heavy negativity and trolls he faced on the platform. He announced his exit by sharing his last tweet. His final tweet read, "Making space for more positive energies only, and this is step one towards that. Goodbye Twitter!"
Soon after that, he deleted his Twitter account. Karan Johar often faces severe trolls on social media because of his alleged favouritism towards nepo-actors. He is called a snake and nepotism's flag-bearer. He also faced the wrath of netizens during Sushant Singh Rajput's death issue. Karan also spoke about the negativity he faces on social media, on Koffee With Karan season 7.
It looks like he had enough of it and decided to quit the platform. Meanwhile, Kashmir Files director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri took an indirect dig at Karan Johar's exit. He tweeted, "Quitters never win. Winners never quit." He went on write, "I believe a genuine person seeking positive energies would leave Social Media completely. Leaving only Twitter because it doesn't allow hypocrisy or fakeness but staying on Instagram because it gets brands and allows fakeness itself is a negative and screwed-up approach to life."
On the flip side, critic and actor Kamaal R Khan took a direct jibe at Karan for his movie. KRK tweeted, "I was seeing, people were abusing #KaranJohar badly on his each Tweet. And finally, he deleted his Twitter handle. I don't support those people, who forced him to leave #Twitter! But I know well that he will come back to #Twitter before the release of his next directorial film."
