Karthi responds to comparisons between Baahubali and Ponniyin Selvan

Mani Ratnam's ambitious project Ponniyin Selvan is gearing up for worldwide release on September 30. This period epic features various stalwarts like Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The Telugu pre-release event of the film was held last night in Hyderabad.
Speaking at the event, actor Karthi said that many people are wondering if this film is going to be like Baahubali. "We don't need another Baahubali. Rajamouli has given us a great visual experience with Baahubali. Ponniyin Selvan is a different story. Our country has so many stories and folktales. This is one such story. We have to tell all these stories to our people," he said.
"Mani Ratnam garu had been trying for the last 40 years to make a film based on this 70-year-old bestselling novel. There is romance, adventure and politics in Ponniyin Selvan," he further added. Karthi also said that he followed the work of Sr NTR while acting in PS-I because the latter is popular for his ease in delivering dialogues in historical and mythological movies.
Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarathkumar, Jayam Ravi, Vikram Prabhu, AR Rahman, Trisha, Suhasini Maniratnam, Ananta Sriram and Dil Raju are among other guests who attended the event.
