HYDERABAD: With the success of Kantara, KGF, and other films, it is proved that filmmakers from other languages can deliver pan-India hits. Moreover, these directors aim to score hits in neighborhood languages, especially Telugu. At the same time, Kollywood filmmakers are interested in making it big in Telugu Cinema.

However, the performance of Tamil directors in Telugu cinema has been a mixed bag, with several films failing to make a mark at the box office, that too in a short span.

Movies like 'Custody', 'The Warrior', 'Thank You', 'Ori Devuda', 'Oxygen', 'Jaanu' and others have not successfully delivered hits with Telugu stars, which has impacted the market of the actors involved. The Tamil directors making Telugu films need to adapt to the preferences of Telugu audiences. They should incorporate a more heroic portrayal of the protagonists, work on body language and mannerisms, and avoid being overly realistic.

While Tamil directors like P Vasu, K S Ravikumar, Murugadoss, Lingusamy, Vikram Kumar, and Mohan Raj have had successful careers in Kollywood, their track record in Tollywood has been less impressive.

Tamil directors need to understand the differences in sensibilities between Telugu and Tamil audiences. Telugu audiences have specific expectations for their stars, and directors should consider those when making Telugu films.

While Tamil directors have succeeded in their home industry, their performance in Telugu cinema has been varied. Adapting to the sensibilities of Telugu audiences and collaborating effectively with Telugu technicians and writers are crucial factors for Tamil directors to find success in Tollywood.
