Laila's second innings with Sardar

Hyderabad: Laila used to be one of the top heroines in South India during the late 1990s and the early 2000s. She made her debut with SV Krishna Reddy's Egire Pavurama, which was a big success. Later, she acted in popular films like Pelli Cheskundham, Pavitra Prema, and Love Story 1999.

She shot to huge popularity in Tamil by acting in super-hit movies like Ullam Ketkumae, Kanda Naal Mudhal, and Pithamagan. She quit films in 2006 and focussed on her family life.

After a gap of 16 years, Laila recently made her comeback in films. She played a key role in Karthi's upcoming film Sardar. This action drama was released last Friday.

We hear that Laila is now set to start her second innings on a full-fledged scale. Apart from Sardar, she is also acting in Amazon Prime's web series Vadhanthi.

In a recent interview, she said that she is looking forward to doing author-backed roles from now on. As she is a popular actress, the filmmakers may approach her with good supporting role offers in the coming days.

Despite Sardar becoming a big hit, Laila did not get a good name. Laila played a significant character in the film, but it was not written well. She does not have a big screen time, and that is a big drawback. We have to see if she scores a success with the web series.
