HYDERABAD: Sometimes, a successful film in one industry may turn out to be a failure in the other industry. Nani's MCA is a classic example of this case. Directed by Venu Sriram, MCA was a sensational hit at the box office. It was also the highest-grossing picture in Nani's career till now.
Given its success, the film has been remade into Hindi as Nikamma. Directed by Sabbir Khan, this film features Abhimanyu Dassani, Shirley Setia, and Shilpa Shetty in the lead roles. It had hit the screens this Friday. First of all, there was no buzz around this movie from the beginning. On top of that, the promotions were below-par. As a result, the film failed to get good openings at the box office.
According to Bollywood trade reports, Nikamma collected only Rs. 25 lakhs across the country on the first day of its release. People who watched the film bashed it completely. Even the critics have given negative feedback to it. Thus, there are no chances of collections getting revived in theatres.
On the whole, it is turning out to be one of the biggest disasters of Bollywood this season. In this way, Nani's career-biggest blockbuster turned out to be a disaster in Bollywood.
