HYDERABAD: Legendary actor Mammootty recently shared his perspective on the role of film reviews and their impact on a movie's success. While discussing about his upcoming film 'Kaathal – The Core,' Mammootty emphasized that a film's success should not be solely based on reviews.
"The reviews can't make the films successful," opined Mammotty, expressing a view that reviews and the cinema should be allowed to follow their own course, and audiences should have the freedom to choose films based on their preferences without being unduly influenced.
On that note, he clearly distinguished between genuine film reviews and what he referred to as 'roasting.' Mammootty acknowledged the importance of constructive criticism, emphasizing that it can contribute positively to the industry.
This perspective comes in the backdrop of ongoing discussions in the film industry, particularly regarding the impact of reviews on a film's performance, with some filmmakers even resorting to legal action against negative reviews.
