Netizens Talk: Lord Hanuman's dialogue in Adipurush preaches 'Adharma'

HYDERABAD: Ramayana is a sacred mythological epic for Hindus. So, when a director adapts such an epic into a movie, he should be cautious. Otherwise, he may end up being criticized. Director Om Raut and his film Adipurush are being slammed for the same reason.

Adipurush was released yesterday and is getting a poor response from the audience. People are slamming Om Raut for altering Ramayana and creating his version. There is no harm in modernizing an epic, but it should be done in the right way.

Ramayana teaches us Dharma. Even its adaptations should do the same. But Adipurush features a few dialogues which disrespect the epic.

For instance, Hanuman says, "Gudda nee babudhe. Tailam nee babudhe. Nippu nee babudhe. Mari kaaledi kuda nee babudhe," while he sets Lanka on fire.

("గుడ్డ నీ బాబుదే, తైలం నీ బాబుదే, నిప్పు నీ బాబుదే, మరి కాలేది కూడా నీ బాబుదే" -- లంకని కాల్చబోయే ముందు ఆంజనేయులు వారు చెప్పే డైలాగ్ ఇది.)

When asked to respond on the same, the film's dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir reacted saying, "It has been used by the greatest saints, storytellers in our country in the same manner as I have written it. I am not the first one to write this dialogue, it is already there.”

Indeed, this is not Ramayana which stands for Dharma preaches to the public. Moreover, this is not Ramayana that we want the younger generation to learn. This is not what we want our children to learn.

Thus, audiences are lashing out at Adipurush makers and are criticizing the film. Let's see if makers answer this criticism.
