HYDERABAD: The pre-release event for the much-anticipated film 'Devara', starring Junior NTR and directed by Koratala Siva, descended into chaos on Sunday due to overwhelming crowds.
Held at the Hyderabad HICC, the event was called off after a stampede-like situation arose when thousands of fans attempted to enter the venue, far exceeding its capacity.
The large number of Junior NTR fans caused overcrowding, leading to scuffles and damages at the venue. Many fans stormed into the hall, with some unable to find seats, while others expressed anger by destroying furniture. Unable to control the crowd, the police resorted to a mild lathi charge and escorted people out.
The organisers were criticised for issuing too many passes beyond the venue’s capacity, with fans demanding action against the event organiser. Disappointed fans, who had travelled from various parts of the region to see their favourite star, had to leave as the event was officially cancelled for safety reasons.
