HYDERABAD: The latest reports in Bollywood reveal us that Vicky Kaushal is set to share screen space with Rashmika Mandanna in a period drama titled Chhawa. The buzz is that Vicky will be essaying the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the legendary warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who founded the Maratha Empire.

The report also reveals that Rashmika was the first choice for the role, and after her look test, she was finalized. She will undergo voice coaching to embody her historical persona, while Vicky will train for four months in fencing, horse riding, and archery.

The film's production is in full swing and will showcase Sambhaji Maharaj's bravery, ultimate sacrifice, and war-winning strategies, along with an emotional love story between him and his wife who jointly served as emperors.

Director Laxman Utekar has reportedly begun the preparations and has brought on board top creative and technical talent to make the project a grand one. Chhawa will be the first historical project to come out of Maddock Films, which is known for producing modest budget films like Hindi Medium, Stree, Luka Chuppi, and Bhediya.

Vicky Kaushal was last seen in Govinda Naam Mera with Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar, while Rashmika was last seen in Mission Majnu with Sidharth Malhotra.
